Are you allowed to fire her? Give her nothing but work like “Get my coffee. Mail these.”? Can you talk to a supervisor, or better yet - HER supervisor? Maybe make an appointment w/ her professor or whoever the contact is at the college and let Intern know you’re going to be speaking with that person. If it’s for a grade, that might work. And, she’s supposed to be working for you and helping your out.
On a related note, I would LOVE an intern so much right now to help me with this crazy workload that is a lot of important busy work.
I can’t fire her because I already fired another intern for not doing ANY work. She is my “better” intern. At this point, most of the work I give her is “get me tea, pick up that product from that store, or drop this off to mail.” I just want her to actually do REAL work.
Although now that you say it, I think I am going to talk to her supervisor at school because this whole internship is for a grade plus she is paid for this. I mean I am fed up with her and so is my boss but he doesn’t want me to be known around here for firing people.
I would offer you mine but she would probably just add to your workload.
I’m not sure I’d mind being known for firing people. Puts the fear into them, you know? ;)
